If you see a little ‘i’ button on Facebook, you’re part of a test the social media giant is conducting as part of its war on fake news.
It’s been nearly 12 months since the U.S. election and the popularization of the term “fake news,” and Facebook is still fighting to ensure that the articles shown on its platform convey accurate information. As such, the social media giant has begun a new test designed to give users “additional context on the articles they see in News Feed.” Intended to help individuals make more informed decisions about the types of news that they read, share, and ultimately, believe, the new “i” button will give readers additional information about the source.
If you’re one of the users Facebook has chosen to participate in the test, you’ll see this little button in the upper right-hand corner above an article’s title. If you tap this button, you’ll be able to find additional contextual information about the publisher that is “pulled from across Facebook and other sources, such as information from the publisher’s Wikipedia entry, a button to follow their Page, trending articles, or related articles about the topic, and information about how the article is being shared by people on Facebook.”…

- Instagram announces 800 million users in their blog post.
- Twitter has updated its active user numbers over a long time to 328 million…
In 2012, Facebook purchased Instagram, then a promising photo-sharing app, for a cool $1 billion dollars. In just a few years the app had swelled to more than 700 million users and a value of approximately $50 billion. (Talk about return on investment.) Based on data recently released by the photo-sharing app, individuals somehow manage to spend nearly 30 minutes a day perusing Instagram. While this time could be presumably spent doing something more productive, the app certainly does have its merits. In fact, based on the inherent photographic documentation and location data, a team of researchers with Cornell University recently claimed Instagram could be a useful anthropological tool. While this may be true, the majority of us simply use to the platform in search of the dankest memes, cat photos, and epic fails. Nonetheless, with each post, share, and elusive like, we are still technically doing our part to make sure this truly wonderful chapter in our species’ devolution is properly indexed…
“I have so much extra time and money, I think I will spend it all on social media…” said no business or marketing leader ever!
We work with solo entrepreneurs to Fortune 10 brands and I can tell you there is not one client who has ever stated this to us.
Usually it’s the opposite. Their schedules are already packed. They are stressed as they know they need to turn up their efforts with social media if they want to be in business 5 years from now. However, the challenge is they don’t have the time.
The truth is you have to make the time. You can’t do everything you are doing today and also spend the time on social media needed to see a real result.
One of the top reasons businesses of all sizes fail at social media is they don’t adequately invest the time or money for success. It’s similar to telling yourself you are going to lose 50 lbs yet you only hit the gym two days a week and don’t clean up your diet…
One year ago, Facebook launched Facebook Workplace, a new platform, and mobile app to be used within enterprises, on a more professional level, without being distracted by the newsfeed that Facebook itself has. Facebook Workplace has the same features as the social network: a timeline and chat, allowing employees to share thoughts, chat, create groups and even events. This year, after hearing feedback from users, Facebook introduced new features for Facebook Workplace: a new chat desktop app suitable for both Windows and Mac and the possibility to share screens within the chat app.
Workplace has now over 14,000 businesses using it and paying 1 to 3$ per user. So it seems that the premises that this side of the business would not work with all the competition around were wrong. It is clear now for everyone that, after developing Facebook and wanting to transform it in “The Internet”, the purpose of Workplace is to gather all the needs of its users in one place, transforming into “The Tool” to work with…

With more and more people consuming information on the go, the timing of your e-mail outreach should be a key consideration – which is especially relevant as we head into the holiday season.
